April 24th Newsletter
Christ is risen! Glory to God! Easter season greetings to you as we begin this new season in the church’s year. Easter is more than a one day event, but a seven-week celebration of the resurrection of Christ. Easter Sundays take us this year until Ascension Sunday (June 2) and then Pentecost (June 9). After a long Lent, how beautiful was DaySpring for each of the services this weekend. We’re all grateful to all of you who gave yourselves to us mowing, weeding, decorating, cooking . . .thank you.
Tonight, you’re invited to Evening Prayers at 5:30. Then, at 6 pm we will begin a four-week reflection on contemplative spirituality and ecology. I think this will be very interesting as we look at what are humans as creatures in God’s world? How is God (or IS God?) encountered in creation? What does our faith and spirituality have to do with ecological crises such as climate change, food sourcing, or pollution? I this this will be interesting and also inspiring as our love of God is stirred by a closer look at God’s creation as a gift and delight. We’ll meet in the chapel tonight, beginning right at 6. I’m looking forward to learning and growing with you in this area of our faith.
May you have a beautiful first week of Easter. If I don’t see you tonight, I look forward to worshiping with you Sunday. God’s peace,
