Dear DaySpringers

back to list

December 5, 2018

Dear DaySpringers,
Blessings to you as we head toward the second Sunday of Advent.  Here’s a couple of notes on the season:
Last Sunday’s lesson in the Sunday School hour was a really wonderful look at the prophetic text for last Sunday.  This Sunday, we’ll continue with Malachi, the last book in the Old Testament. As you’re reading along in Malachi (you do read along in Malachi, right??), you then turn the page and there’s Matthew.  That alone makes it interesting.  The message is even more interesting. Come learn what it’s all about at 9:45 Sunday morning in the sanctuary.
The mission tree is up in the narthex.  It looks to me like many of the ornaments were already selected last Sunday which is a nice start. Each ornament represents a way to support one of our ministry partners in Waco or around the world.  Take a look and see what speaks to you and be part of this DaySpring outreach.
Some of you know the music of Cynthia Clawson. It turns out Cynthia will be in Waco on December 16th for Church Under the Bridge and has agreed to join us for the beginning of our worship service on that Sunday, the third Sunday of Advent. She’ll help us open the worship service with a couple of songs for the Advent season. Cynthia was a friend of Kurt’s for many years so having her here again with us will be a treat that brings back happy memories.
Looking ahead, Christmas Eve services will be Monday, December 24th at 6:00 pm.  For Sundays, December 30 and January 6, we will not meet for Sunday School, only worship at 11 am.
God’s peace and Advent blessings to you,
