October 9th Newsletter
Blessings on you this week. This is a full couple of weeks in the life of DaySpring. Here are a few highlights:
- Chart signups continue. To this point we have 88 DaySpringers sign up for 191 spots. That’s a good start, but we’re not there yet! There’s a place and a real, genuine need for you in the ministries of DaySpring. You can sign up on line with the link above or email the office at . We will celebrate these commitments this Sunday, and the new Chart year begins November 1. Thanks everyone!
- This Sunday is Covenant Day at DaySpring. In our morning worship, we will be led by a duet called The Purple Hulls, two identical twins, who are just great. This will be a treat. They will also be giving us a concert on the grounds Sunday afternoon beginning at 5 pm. The full schedule for the All Church Retreat is below in the Community section of the newsletter.
- Tonight, we continue with the second session on Faith and the Issues: Life, Death, and Abortion. Last week we surveyed biblical and historic Christian teaching on abortion. This week we are particularly seeking to understand why women choose abortion. What are the real life issues going on behind the statistics. Join us, 6-7 pm in the Chapel.
- Next Saturday night, October 19th is the opening night of our Worship as Art Show: Fellowship. Submissions are coming in; keep them coming! More information below on that. The opening evening will include a concert from some of our very own DaySpringers, finger foods, and opportunity to browse and reflect on the art submissions. The opening night is also a fundraiser. Inspired by our journey with Semillas in San Antonio and the journey our friend Carla has taken from Honduras to be with us, we’re asking for a robust, one-night fundraising effort to support American Gateways (http://www.americangateways.org/). AG’s mission is "To champion the dignity and human rights of immigrants, refugees, and survivors of persecution, torture, conflict, and human trafficking through exception immigration legal services at no or low cost, education and advocacy.” We have a personal connection with AG. Many of you know Anali Gatlin Looper, our local AG lawyer. Anali is helping Carla with her asylum case pro bono. Here we have opportunity to support Anali and honor our friend Carla. What better extension and expression of Fellowship can there be but to embody encouragement and support to our brothers and sisters in need. This is love.
I’m praying for you. I want you to know that. I want you to know you are loved, and you are prayed for. Whatever is going on in your life this week, hold it up to the Light, and know that you are being prayed for every day.
