You have probably been curious about how the plans for the building are proceeding. Committee members for the building project had our first meeting on August 28 at the office of RBDR Architects. We got an update on progress from the city engineers and the general contractor, as well as the architects. We reviewed the drawings and asked lots of questions.
Since that initial meeting, we have looked at the plans with members of the staff and with members of the hospitality committee. The committee also visited the YMCA, recently remodeled by RBDR, to see some of the options for materials to be used on the interior of the building. The architect, Kristin Rose, has listened to our questions and concerns and has asked us good questions as we seek to fine-tune the plans.
We will have the plans available at the Covenant Day picnic for you to see, ask questions and provide input. The committee will continue to meet weekly and hope to have plans finalized by mid-December. After that, we should be able to have a pretty solid figure for the construction costs. Council members have been in contact with financial institutions and are preparing information requested by the banks in order to see what amount of loan we will qualify for.
We look forward to seeing the project development and sharing the progress with you as we go.
